T-Mobile’s five-year price guarantee is real. It excludes taxes and fees, equipment upgrades, and network-management practices. Its current disclosure says “customers on this plan may notice speeds lower than other customers and further reduction if using >1.2TB/mo., due to data prioritization.” The guarantee protects the base price; it does not guarantee performance.

1. The guarantee is about base price
T-Mobile says its five-year price guarantee excludes taxes and fees, equipment upgrades, and changes to network-management practices. That is a real price promise with three stated boundaries.

Our plan price has no promotional window, AutoPay requirement, or voice-line condition. Taxes are included, and the price does not increase while service remains active on that plan.
2. $35 is the first rung, not the whole ladder
With a voice line and AutoPay, the three advertised tiers are $35, $45 and $55. With AutoPay but no voice line, they are $50, $60, and $70.

4. Starting service adds $35

Where they win
Two things we won’t pretend about.
They are cheaper at every advertised rung. Their ladder runs from $35 to $70 under the stated voice-line and AutoPay conditions; ours starts at $89. Their $35 device connection charge is also lower than our $150 apartment install. If upfront and monthly costs decide it, T-Mobile has a real advantage.
The five-year guarantee is meaningful. Five years is a substantial price window, and we will not pretend otherwise.
The trade is not “cheap now, expensive next year.” It is a protected base price with taxes, fees, equipment upgrades, and network-management practices carved out, versus a higher all-in plan price with no promotional window and a written speed guarantee.
