Who it’s for
Some homes still want a home phone.
Not because it is fashionable. Because it is useful to that household, and the current bill or current arrangement stopped making sense.
When your own bill says $60
If a home-phone line on your carrier bill lands at $60 after taxes and fees, compare that final total with $50 — not the smaller number that may appear higher up the bill.
When the copper line went away
The old delivery method changed. The reason the household kept a phone did not. ConnectNYC home phone uses the internet connection and power rather than a standalone copper line.
When someone still wants a home phone
A parent, grandparent, kid, or anyone else may still want a phone at home. That preference does not need a telecom thesis. It needs a clear price and an honest explanation of how the service works.
Because the service uses the internet connection and power, calls, including 911, may be unavailable during power or network outages. Read the phone and 911 notice →
What it costs
$50 should mean $50.
The ConnectNYC home-phone add-on is $50 each month, on top of your ConnectNYC internet plan. Taxes and fees are already inside that number.
| Bill line | ConnectNYC | Your current carrier bill |
|---|---|---|
| Home-phone price | $50/mo | Find the base home-phone charge |
| Taxes | Included | Add every tax shown for the line |
| Fees and surcharges | Included | Add any line labeled fee or surcharge |
| Number to compare | $50/mo total | The final monthly total, after every added line |
This is an instruction for reading your own bill, not a claim about every carrier’s pricing. Compare final total with final total. Your whole bill: the internet plan plus $50, taxes included on both — install is a one-time charge. Home phone requires the ConnectNYC internet connection and power; outage and 911 conditions apply.
How it works
The honest version fits in three lines.
This home phone runs over the ConnectNYC internet connection. It also depends on power. That is the practical difference worth understanding before you add it.
It uses your ConnectNYC connection
The phone service runs over the same internet connection serving your home. It is not an independent copper line.
It uses power
The service depends on power as well as the network. A power outage can therefore affect calling.
An outage can affect 911

How to add it
With your request, or after the internet is on.
Home phone is optional. Choose it when you request the building check, or add it later if you decide the household wants it.
New to ConnectNYC
Start the building-check request and select the home-phone toggle inside it. The request asks us to confirm the building; it is not a claim that the building is already live.

Ask before you add
A straight answer beats an invented feature list.
Bringing a current number over? International calling? A specific feature like voicemail or caller ID? Particular hardware? Those answers depend on the setup — email support@connectnyc.com and a person gives you a straight answer on all four before you add anything.
